Waking up is hard to do (so is breaking old habits)

I find mornings quite hard. I’m barely human before that first drop of java touches my soul (I’m sure my husband has a lot to say on this subject!) So, how do I make my mornings easier? Well, firstly I need that cup of java to humanize. Once I feel human I start practising (I’m still a work in progress, changing habits that have been part of my life for years are quite hard to break) the following 11 habits to change my life before breakfast.

Firstly, you need to do this before touching your phone as this will only distract you. The messages, emails and social media can wait until you are ready for the day. These 11 habits are so easy to practise and it will seriously change your life.

 

How do you start your routine?

Get yourself a journal to write down your thoughts every day. If you are already meditating that is great! If not, you can find guided meditation videos on YoutubeStart with something between 10-15 min long. (I like this one from Boho Beautiful).

11 Habits that will change your life before breakfast!

Get out your journal and start writing:

1. Three things you are grateful for. Why are you grateful for it? How does it make you feel?

2. Think what it would feel like if (anything you can think of). Write down 3 things.

3. Find 3 pictures that inspire you. It can be anything you find inspiring. 

4. Three reasons you love yourself. (This is a great time to start looking inward and find those little quirky things that make you, you!)

5. Three things you will do today.

6. Something new you will do today, something you have never done. (Exciting!)

7. Three things you will show others. 

8. You have a $100 000.00 to spend. You have to use all of it and you can’t pay off debt with it. What will you do with all that cash? Write down in point form what each item cost. (Each day you add a $1000.00 to your budget.)

9. Find a power quote for your day. A quote that will give you a vision for the day.

10. Find a feelgood song, one that puts a smile on your face and a little wiggle in your step.

11. Think back to a time and place where you felt really happy. Think about how you felt and why it made you happy. If during the day you feel unhappy or upset, find a noise (the aircon humming or the birds singing) and focus on that noise. Once you are completely focussed on the noise think about your happy place and go there until you feel calm.

Meditation and visualisation exercises are powerful tools to change your life. Waking up and practising these 11 habits will change your mindset. You will feel like you have already accomplished so much before breakfast.
